Job Description

We are looking for experienced Licensed Practical Nurses to perform onsite medical Services in support of the Eastern Colorado VA Healthcare System.  There are multiple clinics and centers to choose from.  Brief practice description and details below:

Projected Start Date:  October 21st, 2021

Location:  Eastern Colorado VA Healthcare System; Denver, Lakewood, Aurora, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Lamar, Burlington, Ft. Carson, Alamosa, La Junta, Jewel, and Golden locations. 

Contract:  W-2 one year contract with possible contract extensions (W-2 through agency).  8, 13, 26, 52-week contracts available to include PRN.  Prefer 52-week contract. 

Rate:  $24.00 per hour

Benefits:  Health insurance, 401K Match, paid vacation time, paid sick leave, lodging if needed.

Schedule/Hours:  Day, Night, Swing shifts available (Exact Time TBD).

Qualifications:  Current Resume, Minimum 1 year of experience; Valid State License (if applicable); Valid LPN Certification; CPR/BLS; Evidence of Current Immunizations; Negative TB; 3 references with phone and email address.   

Statement of work:                                                                                                                                                      

Obtain patient history and patient family history
Perform quality control checks and operator maintenance for a variety of patient care equipment
Assist in identifying patient needs and implementing the plan of care

Document care given and patient response in the medical record
Prepare patient for physical examination
Carry out prescribed nurse initiated, nurse practitioner, and physician orders and document in patient medical record
Communicate pertinent patient data to the appropriate provider
Possess knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most commonly used emergency drugs and their location
Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate resuscitative measures
Assist in patient/family education regarding prescribed medications/therapies/diagnostic procedures
Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding
Assure content and correctness of a prepared report an sign document to validate its content
Participate in monitoring quality of care according to processional standards and established procedures
Respond to telephone inquiries regarding ward services and/or follow-up ancillary reports

Assist with ward related administrative tasks
Administer oxygen, intravenous fluids and prescribed medications in accordance with VA policy
Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce, in the Veteran population, and in the Community
Other duties as assigned
