Provide direct psychiatric care, evaluation, and psychopharmacology treatment to Health Center patients as well as provide psychiatric consultation with medical providers, mental/behavioral health clinicians, case managers, and other employees specified by assigned supervisor. The Psychiatrist is a member of the clinical practice team and works collaboratively with other team members in providing patient care. As part of the team-based approach to care, the Psychiatrist will participate in coordinating care for individual patients, will support patients and families in self-management, through evidenced-based approaches as may be appropriate, will engage in health center projects that are aimed at specific patient population needs, and will utilize effective and appropriate communication strategies, such as health literacy approaches when working with patients.
1 Provide onsite psychiatric services including evaluation, treatment, and medication management to patients.
2 Provide onsite psychiatric consultation/back-up for the health center’s medical providers, nurses, and mid-level medical providers.
3 Confer with Psychotherapists on an as needed basis, regarding mental/behavioral health issues of patients.
1 MA Board Certified or eligible in Psychiatry and/or Child Psychiatry.
2 Active unrestricted license to practice medicine within the Commonwealth of MA.
