Job Description

HEADLINE:  Nevada (Scenic, growing, progressive small city): Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with Pediatric work experience is needed to join a group with two Pediatricians. Traditional Inpatient and Outpatient.  Call: 1:3 to 1:4.  This is a hospital based and hospital employed opportunity.  The hospital is offering an excellent financial package.

  • Desired Qualifications for the Nurse Practitioner candidate:   The hospital, who will be employing the new Nurse Practitioner, is seeking:
    •  Graduate of an  accredited Nurse  Practitioner program
    •  Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
    •  Specializes in Pediatrics
    •  Has work experience
    •  Licensed, or could be licensed, in the  State of Nevada.
    •  This person needs to have experience  in hospital care for newborns post-delivery,  including intubating as necessary.
    •  The successful candidate will also  have an outgoing personality, able to  independently  function alone,  possess confidence, and have a  strong bedside manner and  background. 
  • She or he will be joining a group practice with two pediatricians and will be assigned to work directly with them.   
  • The new pediatric nurse practitioner will work on the campus of their regional hospital.
  • Hospital:  Their Hospital has a Level I nursery. The new Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will be required to attend C-sections, but not deliveries. The hospital’s C-Section rate is about 30%.
  • It is a traditional inpatient and outpatient employed hospital-based practice Nurse Practitioner opportunity.
  • With the exception of call, the hours are standard business hours.  It will be Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • The Clinic is located in the main office building adjacent to the hospital. 
  • The Nurse Practitioner candidate would be expected to build a loyal outpatient practice.  She or he will be required to provide hospital coverage for newborns and pediatric patients, including intubation and providing newborn care.
  • Call Schedule:  It will be 1:3 – 1:4.
  • There are currently four pediatricians in the community, and one who will start to work in August of 2015. 
  • Patient Volume:  The new pediatrician will see/treat about 20-plus patients per day.  
  • Traditional pediatric work including sick care, well care, urgent care, newborns, delivery, immunizations, laceration repair, and chronic health care.

  • As previously stated, this is a hospital employed position. 
  • The starting salary is based on the MGMA median. It will be in the range of $90,000 to $100,000.
