Permanent / Full Time Radiological Specialties Ultrasound Technologist in Santa Barbara, CA Permanent / Full Time Days - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in utilization of radiographic equipment. Assists physicians as necessary to complete special procedures in angiography and interventional radiography for patients of all ages. Coordinates patient flow and is responsible for producing quality images efficiently and safely. Also responsible for staff scheduling, inventory control, ordering supplies, and Administrative decisions when manager not on site. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 1. Coordinates patient transfers and arranges for pretest medication and nursing. 2. Positions and transfers patients, provides immobilization devices as required. 3. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment protecting the patient from radiation as much as possible, using proper techniques and procedures to produce quality test results. 4. Assists in the transportation and the transfer of patients from bed or stretcher to exam table and vice versa. 5. Transports portable Radiographic equipment to critical patients bedsides to perform radiological procedures. 6. Prepares for special procedures by setting up room, preparing equipment, obtaining special equipment from other units, and preparing patient as needed. 7. Assist the physicians in administering opaque media. 8. Scrubs and/or assists physician in the performance of procedures including: routine and emergency interventional procedures. 9. Practices sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination. 10. After procedure is completed, disconnects patient from monitoring equipment and arranges for transfer back to floor. 11. Cleans procedures room following procedures; cleans and packages equipment for sterilization. 12. Maintains supplies and equipment and ensures they are available as needed 13. If appropriate, perform sonographic procedures, maintaining permanent records of significant functional and/or anatomical pathological data obtained. 14. Maintains appropriate records, patient charges, logs, and statistics. 15. Responsible for patient welfare including patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. 16. Demonstrates professionalism, communication, and compassion with regard for human dignity. 17. Maintains the highest standards of conduct in hospitality, excellence, appearance, attitude, respect and teamwork. 18. Uses best judgment in all interactions with customers which includes patients, families, coworkers, Medical Staff and community members. 19. Ability to use specialized radiology and other health care equipment. 5. Ability to perform venipuctures and/or assist in injecting contrast media 6. Ability to communicate and follow instructions both oral and written. 7. Strong interpersonal skills that reflect a positive attitude and a sense of commitment to patients, work associates, and community. 8. Work as an effective member of a team. 9. You will possibly have to rotate to the evening shift as needed. There will be limited Call at this time. This is thirteen week assignment to start. The housing will be within fifteen minutes to the facility and will be provided.
1. Certifications: ARDMS and current CPR are required for this position.
2. Licensure: N/A, no state license required for this position.
3. Experience: You need to have at least two years of ultrasound experience and the client would like to see at least one year of breast ultrasound experience.
4. Equipment/Procedures: You will be using GE Logic 7 and 9 and must be able to perform Breast Ultrasound work. You will be performing mainly general AB/OB exams and the hospital has a separate vascular lab. You will be expected to perform but not limited to the following exams: abdominals, small parts, pelvis/OB, vascular, transplants OR, portables, and some pediatrics( pyloric stenosis, intusscepcion). There will be no second or third trimester OB, only 1st trimester. Someone who can work with residents and has experience is needed since we do a lot of very difficult cases.
5. Environment: You will be working in the main Radiology department at a large hospital and will be one of six technologists in the department.
