Permanent / Full Time Rehabilitation Specialties Speech Pathologist (SLP) in Ormond Beach, FL Permanent / Full Time Days Master's Degree Certification required 1 - 2 years experience required Duties: The speech language pathologists scope of work includes the identification, prevention, remediation, and rehabilitation of patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in communication, cognition, and / or neurological functions and health status resulting from injury, diseases or other causes. The speech language pathologists primary responsibility is to integrate the elements of patient management - examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention - in a manner designed to maximize outcomes taking into consideration the patients goals. Speech language pathology intervention is the purposeful and skilled interaction of the speech language pathologist with the patient and, when appropriate, with other individuals involved in patient care, via education compensatory strategies, exercise, and other procedures to produce changes in the condition consistent with the diagnosis and prognosis. They interact and practice in collaboration with a variety of both healthcare and non-healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, government agencies and third-party payers. The Speech Language Pathologist participates in carrying out the objectives of this service by performing duties which are commensurate with his / her education. Duties are carried out within the framework established by the Department of Professional Regulations as promulgated within Standards of Practice and in full compliance with standards as set forth by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO), Commission Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) at Peninsula Rehabilitation Center (PRC) and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Education: Masters level graduate of a Speech/Language Pathology program. Certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association. Must have a valid Florida drivers license and current automobile insurance since driving between facilities is a requirement of this position. Experience: At least one year of experience and knowledge of adult population, Dysphasia assessment and treatments and interpretation of video fluoroscopic studies. BLS certified, Acute care and modified barium swallow experience. New grads will be considered. Regular Full Time Employment
