S/he must be clinically knowledgeable and will perform the duties of the staff RN. S/he collaborates with physicians in executing the medical plan of care. S/he demonstrates competency in caring for patients of specific ages as designated in unit structure standards. 1. Directs staff in the application of the nursing process. Provides direction, coordinates patients care, promotes and enhances independent functioning among employees. Creates a professional environment. Supports organizational decisions/goals. Maintains availability to patients and staff. Anticipates and plans for interdepartmental transfers. Assesses and evaluates patient's condition and takes appropriate action. Directs staff in the clinical application of clinical processes through education and role modeling. Oversees the plan for complex diagnostic work up and coordinates schedule with ancillary departments.
