Per Diem / Daily Contracting RN Operating Room / Surgery in Henderson, NV Per Diem / Daily Contracting Rotating Eight Hour Under the direction of the Radiologist/ Cardiologist/Surgeon and/or Radiology Manager/Director. The Radiology Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care for patients undergoing any invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Assists in therapeutic cauterization, patient care during procedure, providing patient education, and assisting the physician. Primarily specializes in the pre-op, peri-op, and post-op care of patients undergoing diagnostic procedures in the Radiology Department guided by policies and procedures of the Hospital. Maintains a cordial and professional work environment. Demonstrates the ability to understand the unique infant/child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population and effectively meet those needs relative to growth, assessment and development of the patients. Essential Accountabilities Applies nursing processes and standards of care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures in direct patient care. Prepares the patient for interventional or other procedures, including preparation of site, initiation of I.V. lines, obtains consents for procedure and I.V. contrast when applicable. Observes, assesses and report patient status pre-,intra-,and post procedure. Observes patient for any complications documents observations and reports to physician. Maintains proper informative records of patients during procedure, including charting adequate nursing notes on patients charts. Assists in patient charting for services provided, including medications, catheters, procedures and billing charges. Restocks and prepares room for procedures in conjunction with other team members. Monitors and records vital signs. Monitors and cares for patients on a ventilator. Accurately interprets rhythm strips and EKG. Accurately interpret advanced arrhythmia to clarify major alterations in rhythm in an emergency situation. Acts as a resource person for interpretation, rationale and treatment of arrhythmia. Demonstrates the ability to perform defibrillation or cardioversion as required. Participates with ongoing maintenance of all department crash carts and life saving equipment to ensure readiness in emergency situations at all times. Utilizes vasoactive medications appropriately, including titration, dose calculations and patient observation for effectiveness. Utilizes anticoagulants appropriately including dose calculations and patient observation for effectiveness. Assists in the education of patients pertaining to the appropriate pre-,per-, and post-op procedure. Assists in the teaching and explanation of procedures and nursing functions to individuals such as students, technologists, new employees, staff, and visitors. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement studies and projects. Evaluation of patient care and safety issues. Prepares reports for CQI as required. Participates in the On Call rotational schedule. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Certification, Registration, or Licensure: Current Nevada R.N. license, current BLS certification, and current ACLS certification. Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. Minimum Experience: Some critical care or emergency care experience (i.e. Cath Lab, ICU/CCU, and PACU). Other: Ability to work independantly, as a team, and team members of various abilities and responsibilities. Ability to handle emergency situations, and receive orders, delegate duties, and make critical decisions. Required to be flexible in scheduling i.e. weekends, holidays, and on call and floating. Per Diem / Daily Contracting RN Operating Room / Surgery in Henderson, NV Per Diem / Daily Contracting Days Current license as a Registered Nurse in Nevada and current American Heart CPR certification at the Healthcare Provider Level (BLS) required. At the minimum, an Associates Degree in Nursing required. Must have at least two (2) years experience in an acute care setting. Maintains authority and accountability for decision making relative to the nursing care of patients. Responsible for providing patient care based on the nursing process using assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsible for applying hospital and nursing services policies in rendering physical and supportive care and in providing health teaching to patients and families. Interacts with staff, physicians, and other departments to ensure that customer needs are met. Responsible for professional development in self and contribution to the professional growth of others. Per Diem / Daily Contracting RN Operating Room / Surgery in Henderson, NV Per Diem / Daily Contracting Days Eight Hour The Registered Nurse (R.N.) is competent and knowledgeable with the authority and accountability for decision making relative to the nursing care of his/her patients. They provide age-appropriate care to achieve desired outcomes. They are a member of the multidisciplinary care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a Nurse Manager or designee. The R.N. provides patient care based on the nursing process using assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Essential Accountabilities Assesses and evaluates the health status of the patient utilizing knowledge of and demonstrated skill related to: growth and development; appropriate behavior, motor skills, safety measures; physiological norms; psychosocial development; impact of changes in life style resulting from health situation; and communication skills appropriate to the patients age. Identifies health care problems by interviewing and observing the patients health status. Documents all findings completely and accurately. Collaborates with the patient, family, significant others and health care team to identify and establish goals and interventions specific to the patients health care needs and age. Develops a written plan of care and coordinates such with the multidisciplinary health care team. Maintains plan of care. Demonstrates skills, utilizes safety measures and performs interventions according to outcomes desired and with consideration of the patients uniqueness and age. Documents interventions and responses. Makes judgement decisions and modifies care as appropriate. Delegates aspects of care as appropriate. Provides age appropriate education according to psychosocial development and modifies approach and teaching accordingly in order to facilitate recovery, self care, health maintenance, health promotion and wellness. Evaluates responses to interventions to reassess the patient's status, modify goals, make changes in interventions and revise plan of care. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Certification, Registration, or Licensure: Current Nevada R.N. license; current American Heart,CPR certification; ACLS required for critical care areas. Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. Clinical experience requirements are dependent upon specific position. Required to be flexible in scheduling i.e. weekends, holidays, on call, and floating.
