S/he must be clinically knowledgeable and will perform the duties of the staff RN. S/he collaborates with physicians in executing the medical plan of care. S/he demonstrates competency in caring for patients of specific ages as designated in unit structure standards. 1. Directs staff in the application of the nursing process. Provides direction, coordinates patients care, promotes and enhances independent functioning among employees. Creates a professional environment. Supports organizational decisions/goals. Maintains availability to patients and staff. Anticipates and plans for interdepartmental transfers. Assesses and evaluates patient's condition and takes appropriate action. Directs staff in the clinical application of clinical processes through education and role modeling. Oversees the plan for complex diagnostic work up and coordinates schedule with ancillary departments. Facilitate communication between staff and physician, patients, patients' families, and other Departments. Demonstrates awareness of hospital policies and procedures, protocols, and uses same as a basis for decision making. 2. Plans, independently and in conjunction with the Clinical Director for the clinical and leadership development of employees in assigned unit. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit-specific programs, which are designed to maintain staff skill levels; facilitates orientation and continuing education. Supports Clinical Director with interviewing and disciplinary process as indicated. 3. Assists in staffing scheduling for assigned unit on a long and short-term basis; adjusts appropriately according to unit specific staffing guidelines to maintain safe, appropriate care in a cost-effective manner. Assists in the development and revision of standards that define unit operation, staff performance and patient care activities. Assists with annual and ongoing performance appraisals on appropriate employees. Projects, adjusts, and evaluates concurrent staffing needs according to established staffing guidelines. Assists in monitoring staffing ratios/acuity/needs on a daily basis to ensure safe staffing levels. 4. Utilizes the nursing process and evidence-based practice to provide and evaluate the patient's plan of care. Coordinates patient care, team activities, and plans of care with other health team members. Implements care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, as evidenced by team feedback and documentation. Evaluates effectiveness of care given by self and other health team members, systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes. Utilizes the nursing process to compare patient response with observable outcomes, which are specified in the plan of care as evidenced by documentation. Qualifications: Current AZ RN or other compact state license BCLS/ACLS PALS/NAIS or equivalent required as appropriate for assigned unit 2 years experience in clinical specialty. Recent experience in a charge/supervisory or team leader role. Regular Full Time Employment
