The Occupational Therapist interprets, organizes, applies and modifies as necessary prevention and wellness strategies and medically prescribed occupational therapy to inpatients and/or outpatients. The Occupational Therapist plans and implements programs to meet individual needs and provides patient care consistent with the Scope of Practice Standards and Code of Ethics of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the California Board of Occupational Therapy. Competency skills include the ability to provide care in a safe environment utilizing appropriate communication with sensitivity to special populations. This position is a great opportunity to work primarily in the Hand Rehabilitation Center evaluating and providing treatment to patients of all ages with varied diagnoses affecting the upper extremity with the goal of restoring function. Diagnoses treated include traumatic injuries and post operative cases, congenital deformity reconstruction, repetitive strain injuries, arthritis, tendonitis and other upper extremity disorders. The therapist is required to document, monitor progress, and report patient status to the physician. Splinting skills needed. State license required and certification in Physical Agent Modalities, and Hand Therapy Certification preferred. Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred. Will consider training candidate with experience in Hand Therapy. Position may include coverage in other out patient OT programs including neurological disorders or Lymphedema. For qualified individual Lymphedema training may be provided. Qualifications: Minimum 1 year experience working with adult and geriatric population in Acutes, SNF and/or Acute Rehab Unit.
