Permanent / Full Time Nurse Practitioner Operating Room - Surgery in Janesville, WI Permanent / Full Time Days - BLS or CPR required JOB SUMMARY: Provides general medical care and treatment to Neurosurgery patients in clinic and hospital, in collaboration with supervising Neurosurgeon, by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative routines as directed, and in collaboration with the Neurosurgeon. Writes preoperative notes, operative notes and discharge summaries. Orders routine laboratory, radiology, and other tests as appropriate for the neurosurgical patient; obtains patient history and performs physical examinations in all settings in collaboration with primary, attending or consulting physicians and/or other health care personnel. Assists in clinical setting including hospital or clinic based as necessary. Provides education for patient family and other staff as needed. Required to be on call per the Neurosurgeon request, or as directed by her/his supervisor. May be required to work flexible hours and weekends. Performs other duties as assigned that fall within the scope of practice. AGE OF PATIENT POPULATION: _ Neonate _____Child X Adolescent X Adult X Geriatric EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: NCCPA certification or graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program. Current WI state license to practice as a NP. Experience in neuroscience discipline preferred. BLS certified SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work independently and under pressure Outstanding interpersonal/communication skills Excellent interpretive/analytical skills WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Occupation Exposure is Category A which means all employees in the specified job classification have occupational exposure. The scope of responsibility includes a team approach to care and treatment. This position will be responsible for providing diagnostics, therapeutic and preventive healthcare services to employees, designated dependents, managers and company organizations and interfaces with community healthcare providers and suppliers such as Workers Compensation administrators. Candidates should be able to read x-rays and have prescriptive privileges for Wisconsin.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)1. Performs post offer physical examinations relative to job duty requirements.2. Provides clinical evaluation and urgent care assessment, treatment and/or referral for occupational and non-occupational medical conditions that may include suturing, splinting and casting, record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients and order therapeutic modalities3. Determines fitness for duty, functional capacity, and medical consultation on accommodation and placement issues. 4. Performs health surveillance examinations and determines medical qualifications with regard to ADA and employer accommodation ability. 5. Provide independent practice skills when seeing adults for a variety of health issues.6. Promote, support, and engage in projects and activities that will develop or improve occupational medicine services delivered to the client.7. Meet with employers to discuss health and safety needs, and assist in workplace walk-through and other on-site assessments as needed.8. Provide education to WorkMed staff regarding regulatory compliance/changes.9. Provides services, which may include the ordering of appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, the prescription of pharmacological agents, and other nonpharmacological treatment modalities.10. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information. 11. Work with department medical director to ensure operations are consistent with medical policy and professional standards in occupational medicine and with Prevea Healths standards.12. Participates with physicians in review of patients health records.13. Records physical findings and formulates treatment plans and progress. Additional Info: Regular Full Time Employment
