Provides comprehensive care for psychiatric patients based upon the multi-disciplinary treatment plan and the mental, emotional and physical needs of the patient and provides assessment of acute and non-acute clinical problems and toxicity's as they relate to a patient's psychiatric condition. Provide follow-up care for enrollees who do not have a prior relationship with a psychiatric prescriber. Document assessments and recommendations on consultation forms, nursing notes, progress notes and other forms as appropriate. Maintain records and caseload documentation as required. Function as therapist, co-therapist and/or participant in group sessions with patients. Prescribe medications according to accepted standards of psychiatric practice.

The Nurse Practitioner educated patients and/or their families in order to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health and intervene in acute or chronic illness. The Nurse Practitioner seeks opportunities for professional growth through participation in continuing education, staff development, hospital committees and community activities. All duties and responsibilities must be met within the guidelines of the unit, department, and institution in accordance with the written Practice Agreement required by the regulations of the Board of Education of the State of New York. Current licensure to practice as a RN in New York State. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; Master''s degree preferred; professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice; extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of acute and chronic patient/family problems. Current certification by a national certifying body (i.e.: ANA, NAACOG) in an appropriate specialty area is recommended. Must attain New York State Certification, per Department of Education regulations. 1-2 years previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner desirable, or a combination of related clinical experiences in progressively advancing nursing practice.
