Permanent / Full Time Nurse Practitioner Operating Room - Surgery in Portland, ME Permanent / Full Time This position involves many aspects of research coordination and patient care. This includes collaboration with the Priniciple investigator, Porgram Coordinator, and Study Center. Primary responsibilities include study coordination and clinical support to the hepatobiliary and pancreas cancer pateints. Previous research experience helpful. Preference given to those with experience in ths patient population. SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provides health care to selected patients; scope of practice encompasses the development and recording of a plan for medical and nursing care in collaboration with patient/family, the physician, and in coordination with appropriate other staff and community resources for both chronic and episodic illnesses. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1. Analytical abilities necessary to obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, prepare complex treatment plans, and treat assigned patients with minimal guidance and direction. 2. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a variety of personnel (e.g., patients, employees, physicians, and other health care professionals.) 3. Advanced knowledge of nursing theory and practice, and additional specialized medical training, in order to provide expanded nursing practice at a level generally acquired through completion of concentrated study and clinical internship leading to a Master's Degree. 4. Current license and registration to practice as a Registered Nurse as required in the State of Maine. 5. Advanced skill and knowledge in conducting physical examinations and treating patients in expanded practice model with minimal direction at a level generally acquired through two to three years in-depth experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
