District of Columbia Nurse Practitioner Job Details

Excellent Location: U.S. Army Medicine Civilian Corps

Under the direction of a Family Practice physician, obtains medical histories, examines patients on a routine basis for acute minor illnesses, chronic illnesses, and performs complete physical examinations for well-baby visits, school and job physicals, etc. Examines, diagnoses, and treats patients. Orders pertinent lab studies and x-ray procedures, interprets findings and determines the prescribed medications/treatments for commonly occurring diseases and problems from an approved formulary.

Excellent Location: U.S. Army Medicine Civilian Corps

Provides comprehensive care for psychiatric patients based upon the multi-disciplinary treatment plan and the mental, emotional and physical needs of the patient and provides assessment of acute and non-acute clinical problems and toxicity's as they relate to a patient's psychiatric condition. Provide follow-up care for enrollees who do not have a prior relationship with a psychiatric prescriber. Document assessments and recommendations on consultation forms, nursing notes, progress notes and other forms as appropriate. Maintain records and caseload documentation as required. Function as therapist, co-therapist and/or participant in group sessions with patients. Prescribe medications according to accepted standards of psychiatric practice.
