Serve as a direct primary health care provider in the capacity of a credentialed Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care services to patients ranging in ages from 2 weeks of age through geriatric. The incumbent serves in a Soldier Readiness Center, Department of Deployment Health in a military medical treatment facility. Duties include health management for an empanelled patient population with responsibility for the independent examination, diagnosis and treatment within personal credentials and privileges delineated by the MTF. Provides leadership in comprehensive primary care services and auxiliary practices in family medicine to military and their family members and retirees in the Fort Carson Community. The incumbent performs a variety of professional direct health care clinical duties within the field of family medicine. Assignments include activities including assessing, planning, evaluating and modifying the treatment of patients in various locations throughout the MTF. Examines patients and performs initial patient work-up and assessment of patients' care and treatment; and determines the need for and orders laboratory tests, X-rays and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient. Diagnoses disease, illness, disorder or injury, institutes treatment of patients, and seeks the advice of appropriate physicians for more serious or uncommon conditions. Treats a variety of diseases, disorders and injuries, treats acutely ill patients and those returning for routine or directed follow-up and treatment of chronic illnesses; and writes routine orders on outpatients.
