Per Diem / Daily Contracting Allied Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Lancaster, NH Per Diem / Daily Contracting Evenings - CPR Required POSITION SUMMARY The Licensed Nurse Assistant will ensure efficient direct patient care both adult and pedi as assigned by licensed nursing staff. Duties will include, but not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, I & O's, ambulating patients, charting on flow sheets, transportation. She / he demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the Medical/Surgical Unit. The LNA must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures. ACCOUNTABILITY The Licensed Nurse Assistant is accountable to the LPN or RN assigned to first and the Supervisor second. INTERRELATIONSHIPS Works closely with medical staff, clinical staff, and support staff of Weeks Medical Center. QUALIFICATIONS Must hold a New Hampshire LNA license. Current BLS certification High School Graduate or equivalent GED. English speaking and writing skills required / preferred. Demonstrate ability to communicate changes, i.e. patient status and significant other issues, to licensed nurse. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Under the supervision of an RN or LPN provide safe, organized and appropriate care to patients assigned. This includes personal hygiene, nutrition and elimination, ambulation and movement, I & O's, vital signs, weights, chem sticks, assist with admissions / discharges, and assist patients to attain and maintain their optimal functioning independence. 2. Communicate with team leader throughout shift as to completeness of total care. Make suggestions in a considerate and constructive manner. 3. Provide safe and clean environment for patients involving housekeeping concerns: (i.e. call bells within patient's reach), adaptive equipment; and special clothing. 4. Provide patient care activities in a respectful manner to patient's rights and privacy. Provide emotional support with appropriate responses and techniques used to preserve patient dignity. 5. Offer comfort and rest periods between activities as needed. Provide oxygen as directed by team leader. Assist with transports to other departments. 6. Be available and willing to assist during emergency situations as directed by team leader. 7. Performs all other duties as assigned. Part Time, Temp, or Per Diem Employment
