Permanent / Full Time Medical Laboratory Personnel Medical Technologist in Palm Coast, FL Permanent / Full Time Rotating Licensure Required Duties: Florida Licensed Technologist in all 5 areas of Lab. Under the immediate supervision of the Section Supervisor, the Medical Technologist performs clinical testing in one or more of the following areas of the laboratory: Blood Bank, Microbiology, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology and Urinalysis. A Medical Technologist obtains or receives specimens, performs clinical laboratory tests by standardized procedures, understands method principle, performs quality control, performs preventative maintenance, and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits. The Medical Technologists works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines, records all data obtained and maintains job competence. The position also involves effective communication and interpersonal skills. This position is for 16-hour shifts every Friday and Saturday and 8-hour shifts every Friday. Education/Experience Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or a Baccalaureate in a related science with approved clinical laboratory scientist training required. State Licensure as a Generalist Medical Technologist or Specialist Medical Technologist in one or more areas of the Laboratory required. Regular Full Time Employment

Performs and interprets diagnostic procedures in assigned areas of the laboratory. Maintains quality control procedures, preventive maintenance and patient records. Assists in orientation of new employees. Remains current in technical knowledge and instrumentation use. Required to perform phlebotomy and cross train to other assigned areas of laboratory. Experience/Qualifications: State of Florida Technologist License. License in three or more areas and national certification preferred. Special Skills Cognizant ability to correlate results from a variety of tests and relate to treatment of patient. Precise hand to eye coordination and finger dexterity is necessary to perform procedures, obtain specimens and use electronic/computerized equipment. Ability to analyze data and communicate findings in a concise and meaningful format with recommendations is required. Physical Requirements: Standing on feet 85% of shift while performing lab tests sits up to 1hr/day on chair while doing paperwork, walking up to 50 yards per day. Lifting: 1-10 lbs from floor to counter level, PRN to replace reagents, Carrying 1-10 lbs; distance <50 yards several times a day. Pushing: 1-5lbs <50yards; several times a day. Squatting: several times a day to reach cabinets, equipment Twisting: Upper body 45 degrees; frequency 10 times/day Rotating: Upper body 45 degrees; frequency 10 time/day Reaching: arms distance 1-3 feet several times a day. OSHA exposure level is Category I Exposure to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids. Use of appropriate protective equipment is required. Must be able to communicate with coworkers, supervisors and physicians. Environment is noisy and disruptive. Numerous interruptions occur throughout the day. Essential Responsibilities: Collect specimens for laboratory testing Accession specimens Process specimens Perform routine and special clinical laboratory tests Run equipment efficiently Maintain equipment and perform preventive maintenance Review and correct charges Analyze test results and quality control data and communicate finding in a concise and meaningful format. Work requires more in-depth knowledge of the work area or special procedures, and a broader scope of interpretation of test results and clinical interface. Employees at this level are also expected to provide technical support to lower level technicians, technologists, and students. The Medical Technologist II is responsible for Complex and routine laboratory work along with any special assignments delegated by the Supervisor or Director. She/he will perform preventive maintenance, keep work area clean, train new associates and students, provide professional guidance to lower level professionals, perform and monitor quality, and assist in the evaluation of new methods. Work is supervised by a laboratory supervisor. Education and Experience Requirements Must obtain the required number of continuing education credits deemed necessary by the State of Florida for professional license renewal. Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory, chemical, or biological science(s). Certified as a MT (or higher) by ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB or an equivalent certifying agency. Florida temporary license or regular license as a Medical Technologist Generalist or in at least the three specialty areas of clinical chemistry, hematology and immuno hematology required. Depending on shift/section, the specialties of microbiology and serology may also be required. Regular Full Time Employment
