The Clinical Office Nurse answers the telephone, routes calls, and takes accurate and complete phone messages; obtains charts for physician offices and prepares patient charts for the next day; assures patient appointments are scheduled according to patient needs; maintains an efficient flow of patients; obtains chief complaint from patients; prepares patients for exams; identifies changes or high risk situations in patients condition; administers medication; documents in the chart all authorized medication refills and the instructions given; provides patient/patients family with appropriate education; completes patient referral forms; assures lab work, tests, procedures and surgeries are scheduled; demonstrates proficient computer skills; completes all documentation and charting; completes charges and codes clinic and hospital care/procedures done by the provider; files all papers and dictation, and notifies Manager of any potential problems. Patients cared for include infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED: Required: For Minnesota facilities Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. For North Dakota facilities Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. Licensed by the North Dakota Board of Nursing (if a resident of North Dakota or changing residence for longer than 30 days) or licensed by a member of the Compact State Agreement if not a North Dakota resident. (If changing residents from a Compact State to North Dakota, will need to obtain a North Dakota license within 30 working days of obtaining new residency.) Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for those nurses who provide nursing care to patients calling from Minnesota or will obtain their Minnesota license within four (4) weeks from their first day of work (telephone calls from patients calling from Minnesota can not be taken from any nurse until they obtain their Minnesota license).
