Performs and documents basic physical assessments based on normal anatomy and physiology. Recognizes deviations from normal and reports findings to the registered nurse or physician. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments, annual safety review, CPR and renewal of license by maintaining continuing education units, as required by hospital policy. Employees must successfully pass clinical math exam prior to orientation to unit. In addition to these major responsibilities, the LVN may be assigned other duties. Qualifications: Education:Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current California licensure or interim permit as a vocational nurse. Current approved CPR certification. Current IV certification or completion within 6 months of hire. Experience:Acute care experience within the last two years. New graduates and licensed vocational nurses without acute care experience within the last two years will be considered on an individual basis. Most of the surgical patients are outpatient surgeries. The unit is Med/Surg with Tele - we see a fair number of transfusions and infusions as we have a local oncologist that admits to our unit. We do not give chemotherapy. Emergency room MD in house 24 hours a day. We are staffed for 8 beds. We are looking for nuses who possess excellent assessment skills and knowlege, work with compassion and enjoy interaction with their community and co-workers.
