Provides expert direction and support for critical care while contributing to the setting of quality patient care standards and outcomes. This position is a dual role of CNS and clinical supervisor for the NICU. 1Integrates the service into the organizations primary functions. 2Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services. 3Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services. 4Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care, including treatment as appropriate. 5Determines the qualification and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners, through assessments done by direct observation, written evaluation and clinical demonstration. 6Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided. 7Establishes and maintains a Quality Assurance Program designed to enhance and develop the care provided to patients within the unit.. 8Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department. 9Recommends space and other resources needed by the department. 10Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or organization. 11The Community NICU nurse supervisor shall not be assigned direct patient care responsibility.
