The Registered Nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with professional standards, Nurse Practice Act and hospital job description. At the heart of the Institute are professionals dedicated to providing compassionate patient care and to finding treatments, and possibly cures, for these sometimes devastating diseases. Such dedication by Barrow researchers and clinicians is the reason U. S. News & World Report named Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center as one of the top 10 hospitals for neurology and neurosurgery in 2006. DESCRIPTION: 1. Regulatory compliance & maintains a safe work environ which matches appropriate resources to appropriate patient care tasks. 2. Maintaining patient focused care as measured by patient satisfaction survey. 3. Assures all clinical personnel is working within their scope of practice. Participate in providing feedback on clinic staff competency and annual performance evaluations. 4. Work in collaboration with physicians to develop, implement, & evaluate best clinical processes as it relates to deep brain stimulation (DBS) programming. Directs technical patient care in the Movement Disorders Program to assure high quality patient care & service. 5. Responsible for coverage for this select patient population by triaging patient problem calls which includes assessment by phone for emergency & non-emergency status, problem solving, coordinating & communicating to providers assessment of patient status. 6. Supervise LPNs, MAs and PCAs. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Associates Degree Completion of RN program. BSN prefd EXPERIENCE: 3 yrs nursing exp. Exp in assigned are & office or clinic exp prefd. LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: AZ RN lic. BCLS cert.
