The CNS provides direct patient care and education to patients, families, students, and nursing staff. The major functions of the CNS are: (1) clinical practice/consultation, (2) continuous quality improvement, (3) education and staff development, (4) research/problem solving, (5) program development/administrative support, and (6) professional development. The CNS plans, coordinates, evaluates, and presents educational programs and services for Enloe health professionals, outside agencies and families of patients. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:Minimum:Five years acute critical care nursing experience with an emphasis on Cardiovascular Surgery and/or Trauma nursing.Membership in a professional organization and attendance to conferences regarding critical care nursing LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:Minimum: Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing.Current California Board of Registered Nursing CNS certificateCurrent CPR recognitionACLSPALSCCRN Completion within 18 months:TNCC Desired:National Certification in areas of critical care (CCRN, MICN, CEN, ATCN, CNRN)American Heart Association BLS instructor card.American Heart Association ACLS instructor card.
